Grace Nakajje founded the Grace Works Initiative and partnered with Central United Methodist Church, Fayetteville to construct a medical clinic in the Bukomolo Village. Bukomolo is a rural farming community in Eastern Uganda. The clinic servers about 1,000 patients per month in a community of 20,000.
Clinics in these rural areas make a huge difference as patients who have to travel to receive care will often delay care and end up in a more serious situation. Grace’s clinic also provides a safe environment for women to receive prenatal care along with labor and delivery. Their childhood immunization programs are able to make a substantial difference to save hundreds of lives in this poor community in Uganda.
It’s amazing to consider that this clinic is able to serve their patients without running water! Instead, water must be transported to the clinic in jerry cans.
I (Patrick) visited the clinic in October 2019 and was impressed by their on-site laboratory, pharmacy, and large array of diagnostic tests and treatments. Having ongoing access to fresh water will be allow Grace to improve the care of patients and treat more patients.
Through our partnership with New Ground Charities, 100% of funds raised are tax deductible and will go toward building a well at the Bukomolo Clinic. Any funds raised in excess of the project’s goal will go to support the other programs of Grace Works Initiative in Uganda.
About Grace Works Initiative:
Grace Works Initiative is a health development organization working in remote rural communities in Uganda to promote access to sustainable life-saving healthcare. We carryout community health interventions, and health promotion services through establishment and operation of village health clinics, focusing more on women and children. Our aim is to foster best practices for maintaining access to appropriate medical care which will result in reduced infant/ child/ maternal mortality and make primary health services available to these rural inhabitants. Our activities include provision of appropriate treatment, disease testing, vaccination, medication dispensing, disabilities & rehabilitation, community health awareness & education. We work with community leaders, Village health Teams, and Ugandan health professionals amplified by periodic visits from visiting overseas doctors and nurses.
